We called these the Swishy Pants because you can't help but swish your hips while wearing them! These are true wrap pants, but the waistband is fixed. They make great pajama bottoms, and you can even wear them out! Try them for yoga and feel the freedom of movement. These have a generous overlap, so you won't show anything but some side thigh. No elastic!

Pattern options: Four lengths are included for the adult sizes - short, petite, regular, and tall. The shorts and petite lengths show more leg. The regular and tall lengths don't show much leg at all!

Difficulty: This pattern is a very quick sew. Just 2 cuts - a mirrored pair for the pant, and the waistband. For knits, you can leave the edges raw and sew these up in about 15 minutes!

Fabric: Designed for knits with at least 20% stretch, but wovens can be used. We recommend sizing up the pant pattern piece 3 times when using non-stretch fabric. The waistband needs to be knit and can be made in your measured size.

Yardage: See the yardage chart in the pictures. Maximum of 3 yards required.

Special supplies needed: None, just fabric.

Maternity friendly: They are maternity friendly with no modifications needed. You can wear them over or under the belly. It's easier to make these smaller after you have the baby... Take the waistband off, make it smaller, then re-sew it on.

Nursing friendly: N/A

Size range: Newborn to adult 6X are included in this pattern, which ranges from 17" / 43cm to 74" / 288 cm hip. The projector and A0 files have youth and adult pattern pieces on separate pages. There's two tiled files - one for the adult sizes and one for the youth.

Fit: Snug waistband, lightly fitted through the hip, then loose.

Pockets: No.

Time to complete: Between 30 and 60 minutes depending on hem type.

Sizing

We aim for inclusive patterns that fit all bodies. If you don't see your size on this pattern, send us a message and we'll add it in!

Our size charts offer both metric and imperial measurements.

Seam Allowance

All of our patterns have a standard, 3/8" or 1 cm seam allowance.

Print Internationally

Our tiles have two layers, labeled A4 and Letter. US printers use the Letter layer, and everyone else can use A4!

Trimless Tiles

We designed our tiles to save paper and be easy to assemble. Place the guidelines on top of each other and tape or glue. The letter layer has solid guidelines with a star in each corner. The A4 layer has dashed guidelines with a circle in each corner. Each page has a number, and the tutorial has an assembly chart.

All of our files offer layers, allowing you to print only the size(s) you need.

Copyshop Printing

A0 pages are 33.25" by 60" and are printable at most copyshops. We design ours to be printable in black and white. There are no passwords on any of our files. Our A0 files have layers, allowing you to print only the size(s) you need.

All of our patterns are drafted digitally and tested with a projector in our paper-free studio.

Video + Picture Tutorial

We use pictures in our tutorials, not line drawings. We add in videos of steps that testers have a hard time understanding.

Our tutorial has a table of contents, along with bookmarks. This allows you to quickly get to the page you need.

Updates

When a pattern is updated, you will get an email notification. We allow our testers access to our entire pattern catalog, which means we get continual feedback on our patterns.

Quick sew and cute on

Love my swishy pants!

My swishy pants are in regular rotation every week. The weather has been all over—hot, cold, windy—and these pants are perfect for navigating that. I’m comfy at home, and put together while grocery shopping. You’ll love them once you make them!

Very comfortable loungewear

I made these in the regular length using a heavy viscose elastane jersey and they're extremely comfortable and just as swishy as advertised! I also tried a woven viscose challis (sizing up as recommended) and I think that pair will be great for looking put together for BBQs and summer events, while still being cool and comfortable. Highly recommended pattern.
