Designing a dressing area for your toddlers

Any parent of a toddler knows the God awful struggle to get them dressed every morning!  We made our daughter this dressing area right by the front door.  It's been a few months and it's working great!  Now there's only an occasional struggle (sorry mamas, there's no cure).

My mother made us this adorable picture holder back when Astrid was a baby. We hung it over her coat rack.  We found that the hooks work better than hangers for the thick, heavy things like coats.

This kid's garment rack on Amazon is perfect for holding a few princess dresses, sweaters, and pants.  Aim for just 2-3 favorite outfits hanging so they don't get overwhelmed - the rest of her clothes are upstairs in her room.

Understand that your toddler is going to rearrange it several times, maybe even 50 thousand times. Eventually they'll see it as a place to get dressed and not a playground.

This is a toy chest we found at the thrift store.  There's mittens on the left, socks in the middle, and scarves on the right. There's a little shelf at the top for a comb and mirror.  We use the bottom rolling bin for laundry.  A chair is an essential addition!

The best thing you can do to make your new dressing area a success is to put the absolute favorite pieces your child loves on it!  Astrid loves her princess dresses, so I make sure and have at least one hanging on it.
